Well back from Nashville! We had a blast! I got to call on the biggest stage in turkey calling as well as met a ton of great people. My wife, Sara and I worked the Mossy Oak booth most of the time. I also spent most of the day Sunday in the WoodHaven Custom Calls booth.

As far as my calling went, it started with me drawing caller number 4. In most case you would like to be a little further back than that. It seems that most on the time the place winners come from the bottom half of the order. Owl hooting was the only division I called in at this year’s Grand National Calling Championships (GNCC), meaning I had only one opportunity to get on that big stage. I felt I called well, not perfect but I was happy with it. I didn’t have any major issues. When they called the place winners out on stage, my name wasn’t called. In fact I was in the back of the pack. Back to the drawing board!! I’m sure my score was hurt somewhat from the early calling number but I still would not have been in the running. I’ll keep working to get better and we are only two weeks out from the Mid-Iowa Classic.

You can watch the Owl Hooting Contest below, Thanks to CallingAllTurkeys.com and Shane Simpson.

My calling starts at 4:15 in the video.
