As a young boy growing up in the Loess Hills of Iowa, I was naturally drawn to the outdoors. With most of my free time spent hunting or fishing, I developed a passion for whitetails.

WESTERN IOWA MOREL REPORT 2

IMG_0337 JPGMay 14th morels mushroom report for western Iowa. After returning home from a weekend of turkey hunting with Ty Green and Curtis Goettsch, (see the video of my hunt here) I decided to take a walk behind my house to look at some trees. The rain was coming down an the wind was blowing but the mushrooms were out in full force. After an hour of looking an being soaked to the bone I returned home with five pounds of morels.

The dead elm trees are really producing this year as they do in most years. It is only going to get better. The two to three inch grey mushrooms are what I’m finding right now but the big yellows are still to come. Stay tuned to Victory Outdoors for my next mushroom report..

Not only do I hunt turkey and deer but I am a fungi!!!!
