Another deer season is upon us, and I’ve never felt so unprepared. We have zero stands hung on the main property we hunt, and I’ve been so busy lately trying to get ready to move and get my house ready to sell, I’ve barely had time to round up my gear, let alone actually prepare for the season. Fortunately I have a few trail cameras on the new place to give me an idea of what’s in the area. It’s going to be a new experience being able to step out the back door and have stands within a hundred yards. There are a few younger bucks with great potential, as well as a couple that look older that aren’t terribly impressive. There is also a short-tined eight point buck that looks to be fairly dominant. I normally would give him a pass, but I don’t want him running other deer off, so he may just get an arrow if given the chance.
