I broke down this year and bought a new bow. I was starting to feel the effect of the aggressive draw cycle on my Evo and I figured it was time to try something different. The PSE DecreeHD was a midyear release and it is a hit with everyone I know that has shot it, including myself. It is a bit longer than I’m used to at 35″ axle to axle, but it is very steady and the extra length so far hasn’t even been noticeable to me. The 6 1/2″ brace height is one half inch longer than my Evo, and it seems to be helping my scores having the longer brace height. The draw length is adjustable from 25.5″ to 31″ and this particular bow has 60-70lb limbs. A couple other new features on this bow that I have found to be very nice are the 80% letoff and the additional limb stop, which gives a more positive back wall than the cable stop alone on my Evo. This bow is the nicest, most shooter friendly bow I’ve ever owned.
It draws nice, the valley is considerably better than all the other PSE’s I’ve owned, and I would say it is very quiet and dead in the hand for a speed bow. In fact, I can’t recall feeling or hearing anything on the shot. I took it to my buddy Shawn Little at Wapsi Valley Trading Company in Anamosa, IA to get it set up. I had installed the sight and the LimbDriver rest, so Shawn put a peep in it and had it shooting bullet holes in a matter of minutes.
I took it home and started to dial in the sight in my backyard. I had the pins set from my Evo so I figured once I got the top pin set, the rest would be pretty close. I had my 20 yard pin pretty close within 15 or 20 arrows, and within 50 arrows I was pretty happy out to 60 yards. I’ve been shooting this bow for a few weeks now, and probably have around between six and eight hundred arrows through it. The America’s Best Platinum strings haven’t stretched or moved as my peep is still right on every shot.
I’m shooting better than I ever have and have absolute confidence in this bow. If you’re in the market for a new bow, I would highly recommend heading to your local PSE dealer and shooting one of these bows.
