First 3D Shoot of 2015 is in the books for me and it was the second shoot of the year at Echo Valley Archers, in West Union, Iowa. As always it was a great shoot, they have added a lot again this year to the range. Hands down the nicest indoor 3D range I have ever shot, it might be the best in the Mid-West or anywhere for that matter. If you are anywhere close to this shoot it is well worth the trip. As for my shooting I shot well, it was my first time out shooting my new PSE Dream Season DECREE. I shot 40 targets for a score of 386 out of a possible 440 in the Bowhunter Class. You can find a full list of results at the EVA website. My only goal is to try and shoot better than I did the last time. It doesn’t always work out that way.
Every time out I have a goal to not score a 5 on a target, I wasn’t able to accomplish that this time out I had on the first 20 targets. I also had many more eights on the first 20 then I’d like. During my break after the first 20 targets I adjusted my 25 yard pin as I was just a bit off. On the second 20, was much improved, I wish had made that adjustment sooner. I must admit I got lucky a few times; the two moving targets come to mind, anytime to can score a 10 or 10X on those you have to be happy.
Years ago I when I first started shooting 3D Archery, my goal was to not miss a target. Really for me it’s about becoming a better shooter. It gives me great confidence when I’m hunting knowing I put thousands of shots threw my bow and that no matter what happens I’m ready to make a clean shot when it is presented.
Echo Valley Archers next shoot is February 27 & 28, and March 1st 2015, to find more shoots near you, check out 3DShoots.com
