3D Charity Shoot Results

The Waltonian Archers of Linn County hosted the Aiming for A Cure 3D Charity Shoot last weekend (6/23/2012) and Sara and I had a blast. This shoot had a ton of great shooters attend as well as many Mossy Oak Prostaffers, some of which followed Sara and I as we shot. No pressure for me shooting with my buddies watching but I was worried that Sara would not like the added attention.

I was wrong she shot her best round EVER. Even beat a lot of men. Sara placed 2nd in the women’s bowhunter division, a first ever top three placing for her. She had a great score 347 out of 400. I shot a good score as well 372. I shot this event last year with a 375 but I was happy with my score, as this year’s course was much harder than last years. I ended up tied for 1st but lost the tie breaker format. I have to admit I didn’t think that my score would hold up, at best I was hoping for a top five. I know I shot better than last year, my score just didn’t reflect that, it’s always anyone’s game on any day.

As I said in my last blog in no way do I or my wife go to these things thinking we will win, it’s all for fun but we both are competitive people. Getting outside and enjoying something together, and sharpening our skills at the same time, is what it’s really about. In my opinion there is no better practice then shooting these 3D shoots without the aid of a range finder. You can really learn quickly how to judge your range and that will make it less likely you make a mistake in the tree stand.
