Now that the den cam and the beaver cam have been set for a couple weeks, I thought I’d give an update on the action. The den cam had ups and downs. The downs are it was definitely a raccoon hangout, and I got about 5,000 pictures of them headed to and from the den, and the tree I used to hold the camera was small enough I ended up with quite a few wind pictures (the kind where if you scroll through them, you feel like you are moving since the tree was swaying in the wind). The ups are I got a couple decent pictures of deer, turkeys, and a fox. Due to the wind triggers and the raccoon usage, the den cam has been relocated to a spot I have high hopes for that is out of my usual realm of targeted animals. You’ll have to keep checking back for updates to this one.
The beaver cam isn’t giving too many pictures, but I have gotten a variety of animals, from raccoons, to house cats, squirrels, deer, opossum, turkeys, and finally what I would consider a giant beaver. I’ve only got the beaver triggering the camera once, but since I haven’t found a better place for this camera, it remains on oversized rodent patrol.
Turkey season has started now, so there will probably end up being a camera or two devoted to turkey pictures, but I’m still chasing a couple other unique pictures looking for the elusive postcard worthy catch.
