I grew up in small town Anamosa, IA where I developed a passion for the outdoors at an early age shooting birds with my BB-gun. At the age of 10 I got to go pheasant hunting with my dad, although I wasn’t allowed to carry a gun until I took hunter safety at the age of 12, it is still a part of my childhood I’ll never forget.
Growing up not far from the Wapsipinicon River, there wasn’t a day during the summer I wasn’t trying my luck at catching some fish. I had my first experience at whitetail hunting at age 14 when my uncle took me to one of his hunting spots. I shot my first deer that day, a basket rack 8 pointer. From that day forward I was hooked. I started my whitetail addiction as an avid shotgun hunter. In 2004 I got my first bow, it was a hand me down from my uncle, I didn’t care I was still excited to start flinging some arrows. I started shooting summer and winter league at Anamosa Bowhunters and have been a member of the club since. Archery grew into my true passion, shooting local 3d tournaments in the summer and spending the fall months suspended in a tree waiting on that big Iowa monster! While I still love hanging with the guys during shotgun season, there is nothing more refreshing than sitting in a tree watching and listening to the timber come to life. I have been very fortunate to be able to hunt some very good ground that has produced some excellent Whitetail and have been able harvest a few of them. I have been able to take my love for the outdoors outside of the state of Iowa also, taking a trip to Texas to shoot Hogs and a trip to Wyoming to shoot Antelope.
I spend my summers camping with my wife and 3 boys and involve them in as many outdoor activities as possible, whether it be camping, shooting 3d archery at Anamosa Bowhunters or fishing some local favorite farm ponds. I became a Prostaff member for Mossy Oak in 2015 and I am excited to become a part of Victory Outdoors, where I can share my experiences and passion for the outdoors with others as well!
